Proverbs 8: The Truth And Nothing But The Truth

So help me, Wisdom

“I was just being honest,”
apologizes the
classroom bully, “it was just an
observation.”

“It’s just an intellectual exercise,”
declaims the
self-proclaimed
free-thinker, over a
pint at the local
pub, “I’m not a
bigot.”

“Free speech is the ideal,”
writes the
well-paid essayist, “and
facts don’t
care about your
feelings.”

“The truth hurts,”
proclaims the
opportunistic pundit,
cherry-picking the
statistics to fit their
worldview.

“Wouldn’t you agree to this fact?”
questions the
high-priced defense attorney for the
man charged with a
brutal murder, to an
expert witness, in an
attempt to create
unreasonable doubt in the
minds of the
jury.

“My mouth only utters truth,”
testifies
Wisdom, “and my
lips detest
evil. I don’t
twist the
facts to fit some
narrative. I
carefully
consider every
repercussion of my
words, and
know that
not everything
needs to be said.
Facts don’t
live in a
vacuum. And
those who try to
enrich themselves by
selling the
truth are usually
lying.”
